Being a Christian doesn’t mean we will automatically become fearless when situations arise. Thankfully, the Lord knew this, and has given us many Bible verses about courage. If Christians never faced times of difficulty or uncertainty, we wouldn’t need Scriptures to help us overcome our fears! Be encouraged by the following Scriptures!
Top Bible Verses About Courage
Deuteronomy 31:6: “Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.”
When the Lord asks His children to do something, He doesn’t send us out alone. He goes with us! When God has a mission He wants done on Earth, He uses men and women as His hands and feet. When we are full of His Spirit, God doesn’t rest and leave us to handle situations on our own. He is within us, and He has never failed, nor forsaken His children.
When troubling times come to us, that Spirit within us is continually faithful, and will give us courage and strength.
Proverbs 3:5: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding”
Trust is vitally important in our walk with the Lord, yet not always easy. It is a relationship based on trust. The Bible shares verses about courage, which can sometimes be interchangeable with trust. There are times we need to say, “Lord, I need You to give me courage.”, which is along the same thought as, “Lord, help me trust You (because I am afraid, but want to lean on You rather than my own understanding).”
Ephesians 6:10: “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”
Friends, we must remember that we don’t have to rely solely on our own strength. This Bible verse alone is a great reminder about having courage! We can be strong in the Lord. We can rely on His power. There is never a need to try to handle everything on our own. He has an endless supply of the strength we need!
1 Corinthians 15:57-58: “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
Even when we don’t feel too courageous, we must stay committed, unwavering, and faithful. We need to continue our daily work for the Lord, no matter how we feel, no matter what threats the enemy is whispering in our ear. Courage really isn’t about not being afraid, rather it is about taking action even when we are afraid. If we let Satan intimidate us, he knows he can hinder us. But our final scripture is just the reminder we need….
1 John 4:4 “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”
When the Spirit of God is in us, the Lord promises us power! Power to be witnesses, power to overcome, power to walk right. His power is greater than all of the powers of the enemy put together.
We have the ultimate help when we look to God for our courage. There is no shame in relying on Him to give us the strength and boldness we need to make it through the many seasons we will go through in life. Aren’t we blessed to know that we don’t have to walk alone?
